I wasn’t able to be home for
Christmas, so my parents came down to visit me in Uruguay! They wanted to get to
know my city and my country but especially my people! We felt like these goals were well
accomplished! They really enjoyed putting names to faces of key people in my
life here and getting a taste of what I do from day to day!
We enjoyed just spending time
together, eating great food and worshiping at the sight of God’s creative
works both in nature and via the creativity and ingenuity of those who bear His
image! Check out a little glimpse of our time!

Walking the Rambla (the iconic avenue and sidewalk that wraps around the entire coastline of Montevideo) |
|
Watching the sunset with the multitude of Uruguayans that pack the parks just to see it |
|
Eating the national sandwich of Uruguay, the Chivito |
|
My parents got to be a part of the last Trivia Lunch of the semester at the La Ruta college-age ministry |
|
Checking out the Old City in downtown Montevideo (plenty of shopping opportunities at the market for Mom) |
|
On the way to Punta Del Este, the popular vacation city, we stopped at Cerro Pan de Azucar (Sugar Loaf Hill) |
|
At the foot of the hill is a free zoo of animals native to Uruguay |
|
Part of the path to the top of the hill |

Piria's Castle just down the road from Pan de Azúcar. Piria was an alchemist who built this castle, the nearby city and ritual pools based on his belief that the mystic "Ley Lines" of energy intersect at this very point on the earth. Many Uruguayans today believe in the spiritual-energy properties of the stones and waters here and come for ritual cleansing and out-of-body experiences. |

Later in the summer when the water isn't so frigid, you can jump out and swim with them! |
